At the center of activity in the Villages of Palm Beach Lakes is the Bear Lakes Country Club, featuring two 18-hole signature championship golf courses designed by the legendary Jack Nicklaus. The clubhouse, which opened on March 21, 1987, has the classic old-world flavor of Addison Mizner. Built to accommodate a panoramic view of the 9th and 18th holes of the Lakes golf course, the second floor member area of the two-story, 38,000 square-foot clubhouse, includes dining room seating for 140 and a grille room, adjacent board room and extensive bar area that will seat 120.
The décor throughout the clubhouse combines clay and ceramic tile floors and vaulted ceilings with paddle fans, all of which are accentuated by large arched windows of beveled paned glass. All interior woodwork is pecky cypress, indigenous to the southeastern United States. The board room features an authentic coral fireplace mantel and impressively hung above the mantel is the original painting, by wildlife artist Guy Coheleach, of the North American Grizzly Bear, which has become the symbol and logos for the Bear Lakes Country Club. Club facilities also include eight tennis courts (6 of which are Har-Tru), a heated swimming pool with adjoining men’s and ladies’ cabanas, tennis and golf pro shops, men’s and ladies’ locker rooms and, on the lower level, a well-designed and highly efficient cart and bag storage.
Bear Lakes Country Club prides itself on familiar tradition. As tradition grows year by year, Bear Lakes’ members pride themselves on a familiar, friendly and welcoming atmosphere known by few others.
